Craft Group

This group was formed in 2008 with the aim of making articles for the Christmas Shoe Box appeal.

No particular skills are required as the gifts are so varied. However the knitters have produced hats, mittens and toys. The sewers have created bean bags, juggling balls, pencil cases, dolls’ clothes, marble bags etc. We have also made notebooks and covered them attractively, beaded jewellery, necklaces and bracelets. In addition the group has extended outwards with many other church members, who cannot attend the group activity, making articles at home.

Towards Christmas the many items are taken to the warehouse in nearby Birkenhead where they are added to the boxes that are sent around the World as part of Operation Christmas Child run by the charity Samaritan's Purse.

These ladies make fillers for the boxes all the year round, so were very interested to see the shoe boxes sorting in process, and now realise how their efforts are valued. 16 ladies from our craft group visited the Wirral depot in November. They travelled by mini bus to the depot in Birkenhead.

We meet fortnightly on a Wednesday morning. If you would like to join the Craft Group please contact me. We would be delighted to hear from you - call 0151 625 2472
