Weekly Notices 31st March 2019

LENT

As you came into church you will have seen candles burning under the cross.  As the weeks of Lent pass, a candle will be extinguished until, on Good Friday, no light will shine – a symbol of that darkest of days.  As the candles are blown out we will be thinking about the meaning of Lent and its implications for our lives and our faith.  On Easter Sunday – well, I expect you can imagine what will happen!

FLOWERS

The flowers today are kindly given by Kate Duthie in memory of old friends.

Thank you to those who donated last week in support of the relief efforts following the cyclone affecting Zimbabwe, Mozambique & Malawi.  There will again be an opportunity to donate after this morning’s service.  If you would like to gift aid your donation envelopes are available.

YOUR GENEROSITY

About a year ago we started having Own Arrangement Services giving people the opportunity to share with us their passion for a particular missionary society or charity.  In that period you have given the best part of £1000 to these causes – so a very big thank you.

The Worship Development Group is always looking for ideas for Own Arrangements, so if you would like to be involved in one of these (or any other service) please let us know.  Don’t be afraid, we’re there for help you – you don’t even have to stand at the front!

MERSEYSIDE FOR ROMANIA

I have sent a total of £810 to Jean.  As usual your generous donations went way past the £500 needed for Father Constantin.  Your generosity is very much appreciated.

Unfortunately the group is having storage problems and other difficulties at present so they cannot accept any further goods to send out to Romania.
