Weekly Notices 14th July 2019

The flowers this week are kindly given by Iain & Eleanor Macarthur in memory of loved ones.

A very big thank you to all those who attended and helped at last Saturday’s Strawberry Tea.  The event was a great success and I am delighted to let you know that the total sum raised amounted to £453.50.  This sum will be for the MWiB Special Project which is supporting widows and orphans of men killed in the conflict in Aleppo, Syria.

Copies of this month’s prayer diary for July are available in the foyer.

The next service will be on Wednesday, 17th July at 1 p.m. when Steve Cooper will be leading a meditative/contemplative service.

The Circuit Thanksgiving Service for the ministries of the ordained ministers and lay staff leaving the Circuit will be held on Saturday, 20th July at 6 p.m. at Moreton Methodist Church.  There will be a faith tea after the service.  Those attending from West Kirby are asked to bring something savoury.

Leprosy Mission Sunday will be on 21st July.  Envelopes will be available if you would like to make a donation and if you have a TLM box that needs emptying hand it to me when convenient.

Thanks to everyone who continue to donate stamps, postcards and coins.

Debbie Armitage

A reminder that this meeting takes place after the morning service on Sunday, 21st July and will be chaired by Rev Viv Gasteen.   A bring and share lunch follows the ACM.

This is an important meeting so please make every effort to attend as Stewards, members of the Leadership Team and other committees are elected/re-elected.   Scarthe Spencer has already retired as Property Secretary and Jim Drake will be standing down as Booking Secretary with effect from the 31st August.

Some current members have served longer than is expected so if you would like to become involved in the day to day running of the Church please speak to Elaine Phillips, Church Council Secretary.

Copies of the Agenda, Minutes of the Meeting held on 15 April 2018 together with the Annual Reports are now available on the table in the foyer.

Do we just do “jobs for the church”?  Is there something more to the way we work within the church community?  What do we mean when we say, “put me to what you will” in the Covenant Service?  Viv Gasteen will be exploring this during morning worship on 21st July.

We are planning a trip out on 1st August so if you would like to come on the trip but didn’t come to the last meeting please let me know.

Holiday@Home is happening again this year, the dates are 8th, 10th & 11th August.  If you feel able to help on any of the days, we need plenty of people around to help in the kitchen, transport and “hostessing” to ensure our holiday makers enjoy their time with us.

If you know of anyone who would enjoy an afternoon with us, especially if leaving their home is difficult, please speak to Carole or Catherine.

We are sorry to announce that we can no longer send goods, shoeboxes or money to Merseyside for Romania.

Losing the warehouse made collection and dispatch of goods impossible.  Transport Manager Dave, suffered a stroke and, worst of all, co-ordinator and chief organiser, Jean Hickson, has been crippled by inoperable arthritis.  Unfortunately there is now no-one who can take goods and cash out to Pitesti.

We have been helping Romania since 1997 and we have supported Father Constantin Mariora since the spring of 1998 and we are very sad to lose that link.
