Weekly Notices 14th April 2019.  Palm Sunday

LENT

As you came into church you will have seen candles burning under the cross.  As the weeks of Lent pass, a candle will be extinguished until, on Good Friday, no light will shine – a symbol of that darkest of days.  As the candles are blown out we will be thinking about the meaning of Lent and its implications for our lives and our faith.  On Easter Sunday – well, I expect you can imagine what will happen!

CHURCH FAMILY

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Jill Price.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband and sons at this difficult time.  Jill’s funeral service takes place at Landican Crematorium on Wednesday, 24th April at 3.30 p.m.  Refreshments will be served at church after the service.

EASTER FLOWERS

As usual the church will be beautifully decorated on Easter Sunday. You can make a donation towards the Easter Flowers after this morning’s service.

EASTER OFFERING

Envelopes are now available.  Your donation will help to support mission partners working overseas.  Please place your envelope in the offertory bag or hand to one of the Stewards. You only need to complete the back of the envelope if you wish to gift aid your donation.

THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY GROUP

The next meeting is on Thursday, 18th April at 10 a.m. for 10.15 a.m.  The Group will be studying Philippians 3: 12-21 and will be led by Gillian Ladlow.

MAUNDY THURSDAY MEAL

Greasby Methodist Church will be hosting this year’s Group Meal on the 18th April. Today is your last opportunity to add your name to the sign-up sheet if you wish to go.

GOOD FRIDAY ACT OF WITNESS

If you wish to take part please meet at the Dee Lane end of the Marine Lake at 10 a.m. to assemble the crosses.  We will then stand with the crosses along the prom from 10.30 a.m. until 11.30 a.m.  You are welcome to share the time and a cross with someone if you cannot manage the whole hour.

YOUR GENEROSITY

About a year ago we started having Own Arrangement Services giving people the opportunity to share with us their passion for a particular missionary society or charity.  In that period you have given the best part of £1000 to these causes – so a very big thank you.

The Worship Development Group is always looking for ideas for Own Arrangements, so if you would like to be involved in one of these (or any other service) please let us know.  Don’t be afraid, we’re there for help you – you don’t even have to stand at the front!

Entrance will be £5 to include refreshments.  There will also be a raffle and cake stall.  Funds raised will go to the MWiB special project run by Barnabas Fund supporting widows and children in Syria.
