Weekly Notices 11th November 2018 - Remembrance Sunday

REMEMBERING

You will see in church today two figures which will, we hope, remind us in a special way, of the huge sacrifices made on our behalf.  They are part of the “There But Not There” project of the Remembrance Charity and, in the words of the Archbishop of Canterbury “I do commend this creative and imaginative project very warmly.  I hope that many churches will want to engage with this.  As we commemorate the end of the First World War it is vital that we remember and this project allows us to do so in a way that will engage with the imagination and be a real exercise in remembrance”.

FLOWERS

The flowers today are kindly given by Audrey Scott in memory of Ian.

CHURCH LIGHTING

We have a beautiful church with amazing stained glass windows.  All of this is hidden from the “passing trade!”  The last Church Council agreed a proposal from COG that we should use the church lighting for a few hours each evening to display the windows and to enhance the view through the pavement window.  The lighting is low wattage LED so little electricity will be consumed.

An Advent Calendar for November has been produced with a list of 30 different items people could collect during the month and put in their own collection box. Copies are available on the table in the foyer.
