Weekly Notices 10th March 2019

FLOWERS

The flowers today are kindly given by Jill Cumming in memory of loved ones.

LENT

As you came into church you will have seen candles burning under the cross.  As the weeks of Lent pass, a candle will be extinguished until, on Good Friday, no light will shine – a symbol of that darkest of days.  As the candles are blown out we will be thinking about the meaning of Lent and its implications for our lives and our faith.  On Easter Sunday – well, I expect you can imagine what will happen!

LOVE LIFE LIVE LENT

A sheet has been produced with suggestions on how you could “be generous to yourself, your neighbours & the world” during the six weeks of Lent e.g. make someone laugh, feed the birds, phone/text someone to say goodnight.  Pick up a copy from the foyer.

PEACEMAKERS

This evening’s service will centre on the story of Malala, the young Pakistani girl who was prepared to risk her life for her beliefs.  In this informal café service in the Hall we will think about what it meant to be the peacemaker and consider the risk we might be prepared to make to share our faith.
